Supporters and Advocates Bundle: She Is Not Mentally Ill and Worried About You

Why is she doing this to me?

“Her behavior is different! She can get easily agitated, cries or just ignores me. I have never seen anything like this before.”

Emotional stress is in its early stages is difficult to recognize. It must be bad behavior or personal weakness! The possibility of a mental health struggle is rarely a consideration. This popular viewpoint supports a belief that education, job description, and bank account provide immunity from mental health problems. Intellectually, you understand this is a false belief. But it remains a core value that everyone has the power to control their mind. Meanwhile, behind a health provider’s door, someone seeks answers to the sudden emotional change in their loved one.

How do we get her back to normal?

People do not know what to do with mental health conditions.

“I don’t know how to help her. If this problem were a physical condition like a fracture, helping would be so easy.”

What can I do to help these sudden emotional changes in attitude and behavior?

“She is not sleeping at night, not eating, and not going to work. I have tried everything, from taking her out to restaurants to shopping sprees and even staying up all night talking about solutions for her situation. Nothing seems to work! If she could snap out of this!”

Next Steps

My name is Stephanie Durruthy. As a board-certified psychiatrist, award-winning book author, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, my mission is to destigmatize the topic of mental health.

So, what am I offering? I have created an audio learning program, She is Not Mentally Ill, for anyone searching for information to understand mental health. It is essential to develop a support system to secure mental wellness. This informational resource creates the opportunity for parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, partners, friends, and anyone concerned to deepen their mental health awareness.

I found She is Not Mentally Ill was helpful to understand mental illnesses. She explains with real-life examples the difference between a mental illness and everyday life experiences. It addresses the misperception that success prevents the possibility of having symptoms of a severe emotional disorder. I am reminded that health conditions like depression are equal opportunity and do not discriminate.

If you view someone struggling emotionally, the first step to reducing your stress is education. My program is a straightforward educational tool that provides the fundamentals to understand. This informational resource will not provide a textbook of mental illnesses and available treatment. It just answers the unspoken but uncomfortable questions about a mental health situation.

The Options

Having an emotional conversation is tricky. It is crucial to have a mental health mindset. Once you understand the problems, it is easier to communicate. My audio program She is Not Mentally Ill was created to assist you by demystifying the following:

  • Develop a deeper awareness of mental health behaviors
  • Broaden insight into negative misperceptions
  • Explore the barriers to illness acceptance
  • Integrate non-judgmental communications

Finally, the audio learning program She is Not Mentally Ill, decodes your uneasiness of the need to help. How do you find the right words when stressed with emotion watching her personality change? It is common for those struggling emotionally to deny your simple questions about their behavior.

I have listened to this CD three times, and each time I finished, I experienced another “aha!” moment. ~Delores
